Photo info enhancements
A few enhancements have been made to photo upload and editing:
- When possible, photo names are inferred from filename. For example, “Kings_Dominion.jpg” becomes “Kings Dominion.” Default names created by Cameras, such as “DCS0001″ or “P001234″ are not translated. This enhancement applies to multi-upload as well as single upload interface.
- When possible, photo date taken on is read from the photo. Most cameras record the date in the photo file.
- Better date picker across the board. You can now enter specific dates, pick from the pop-up calendar or even enter logical dates like “today” or “next Friday”, etc.
- Multi-upload now removes photos from the list after it’s been uploaded.
Hope you find these enhancements useful. As always, please let us know if you find any problems.
Thanks!

announcements & downtime 24 May 2007 11:40 am
Back after a hickup.
There was a system failure at the data center that caused one of our servers to shutdown. We’re back. Sorry about the downtime. Our monitoring system missed it. We’ll improve the monitoring to minimize downtime in the future.
Special thanks to you, our users, who let us know about this.
Cheers,
- Zak

Upload Multiple Photos, Fast!
Tired of uploading one photo at a time? No more! Multi-photo upload is finally here! Now you can upload many photos at a time, simultaneously! You can quickly name the photos as well.
Find the “Add Many” link for the multi-photo upload tool under “photos”. Single photo upload is still available for a quick upload and describe task (and it now works with Safari as well).
So what are you waiting for? Upload those family photos and start sharing!
Enjoy!

Family calendar for your desktop and PDA
We’ve just added iCalendar extension for Famiva calendars. You can now download your calendar into Outlook (see note below), iCal, Evolution, Thunderbird, or whatever calendar/PIM software you use. Synch with your Blackberry or Treo to get family reminders on the go.

Shows Famiva calendar in Safari and iCal on Mac OS X.
Go ahead and take your calendar beyond your browser. Just go to your Famiva calendar page and click “Download 2007 Calendar.”
Note to Outlook users: Outlook 2000 and 2003 support for the iCalendar standard is spotty, download and install free Remote Calendars add-on to make it play well.
