You can then simply drag and drop members on to the family tree to connect the dots. We are excited about this feature and have put in a lot of effort into it. Try it out and let us know what you think!

Importing members from MyFamily.com

In an effort to give MyFamily.com a easy migration path to Famiva, we’ve just added support for importing your family from MyFamily.com. Click on “import relatives and friends” to get started. Famiva’s import feature will help you identify which members need to be imported. After you’ve completed the import, you’ll see the “Link Members” notice on the family tree:

Link MissingClick on it to get a draggable window of imported members. Simply drag and drop the imported members onto the family tree. You can click on other members on the tree to navigate to the right place.

Family friends are welcome

Many of you have asked for the ability to add “family friends” to your site. Famiva now has formal support for family friends. You can drop friends on the family tree under the new friends box; they will be marked as friend of the selected member. Friends are not relatives and therefore not shown on the family network. Family friends are considered ‘trusted members’ and therefore enjoy all privileges.

Family Friends

Future release will support access rights that differentiate friends from relatives on a per story and photo basis. We are also planning to let the site administrator decide whether friends can contribute to the family tree. For now, they have the same rights as relatives.

Go ahead and invite family friends to Famiva. More the merrier.
